Studio Views

You may have heard that I was moving to Detroit.  The past few months have been a whirlwind, filled with happiness, sadness, excitement - and just filled!  Most of all I am really loving living in a city again.  It's great to have access to museums, music, new restaurants and lots of energy.

Most important to happiness however, is the work space.

The studio is located in a area of downtown called the Cass Corridor.  It is walkable to a few bars and restaurants, and most notably a killer antique store (that brick building in the middle of the field).  These photos are from my upstairs studio room, about 300 sq feet that I am using as a office and showroom.  It has amazing light and a view of downtown and the MGM casino.

The actual workshop space is downstairs in the warehouse.  This space is shared with my studio mates, Scott and Kyle, I definitely bring a feminine touch to the place.  And it can get a little intense in here, especially when Scott is working on that giant 30 foot sundial sculpture in the middle of the room!

One of the most magic things about Detroit is that it is a big city with a small community. I have found that everyone knows each other, there are networks and spiderwebs connecting everyone.  Some of my favorite things about the city so far are Detroit Institute of Modern Art , MOCAD, Detroit Denim, Rust Belt Market and Drinks x Design

Check out some of the brilliant makers who have become my new friends!
