Aquamarine: March's Birthstone
Named after the color of sea water, this stone is a favorite at EBJ. We love it for its cool, icy blue color, and that it is the perfect mix of luxury and sensibility.
Aqua, (water) + Marina, (of the sea)
The quality and value of this stone are assigned based on the depth and purity of color, as well as the clarity.

Aquamarine has a rich history. Roman fishermen used it as protection and to symbolize safe travels. It is a traditional Buddhist gift given from a husband to his wife on the day after their wedding. And Eleanor Roosevelt was gifted a 1,300-carat faceted aquamarine from the president of Brazil in 1936.
Our seasonal March birthstone collection sets peaceful blue gems against blackened chain and 14k yellow gold.

Aquamarine is a particularly hard stone, 7.5 - 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, and is a good choice for rings worn everyday because they can stand up to that kind of wear and tear.
